When damage is widespread or the door is approaching end of life, full replacement is usually the better spend.
Bottom panels take the worst of it. Salt spray, lawn-sprinkler overspray, and pooling rainwater all attack the panel-to-floor seal. We see bottom-panel rust through years earlier than middle or top sections.
Replacement panels made from aluminum, fiberglass, or marine-grade steel hold up far better than standard galvanized steel. For coastal homes, we recommend upgrading the replacement panel to a corrosion-resistant material even if the others are standard.
