Garage Door Repair FAQ - Honolulu, HI

Honest answers to the questions we hear most. No sales pitch - just what you need to know.

How much does garage door repair cost in Honolulu?
It depends on what's wrong. A roller or hinge replacement is on the lower end. Spring replacement costs more because of the parts and the risk involved. We give you a flat-rate quote on site before any work starts - no surprises.
How fast can you get here?
Most days we can get to you same-day. If you call in the morning, we're usually there by afternoon. After-hours emergencies depend on availability, but we do our best to get someone out quickly.
Do you work on all garage door brands?
Yes. Clopay, Amarr, Wayne Dalton, CHI, LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie - we've worked on all of them. Parts availability varies by model, but we carry the most common ones on every truck.
Is it worth repairing an old garage door or should I replace it?
If the door is under 15 years old and the panels are solid, repair almost always makes more sense. Once you're dealing with rust, warped panels, or repeated failures on the same door, replacement starts to pencil out.
Do I need a permit for a new garage door in Honolulu?
For a standard residential replacement - same size opening, no structural changes - you typically don't need a permit in Honolulu. If you're changing the opening size or adding a new one, that's a different story. We'll let you know during the estimate.
Why do garage doors break down faster in Hawaii?
Salt air. It corrodes springs, cables, and hardware from the outside in. Mainland springs last 7-10 years. Here, 5-7 is more realistic. We use galvanized and high-cycle parts that hold up better in coastal conditions.
Can I use my garage door with a broken spring?
No. The door is unbalanced and could drop without warning. Your opener is also straining to lift weight it wasn't built for, which can burn out the motor. Don't use it until it's fixed.
What should I do if my garage door is stuck open?
Don't try to force it closed. If a spring or cable snapped, forcing it can cause more damage or injury. Call us and we'll walk you through how to secure it until we get there.
